Firstly, I would like to express my sincere gratitude for your continued support and guidance. Thanks to all of your support, this year PACIFICO Yokohama is celebrating our 30th anniversary.
It has been 30 years since it opened its doors, and we have been able to reach this milestone thanks to the support and generosity of many who have used the venue, including our customers, shareholders, MICE industry professionals, government officials, local residents, and partner companies. Once again, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude.
PACIFICO Yokohama opened in 1991 as Japan's first ALL IN ONE facility bringing together MICE functions including conference, exhibition, and accommodation in one location, all of which are important elements for holding MICE events. Since its opening, PACIFICO Yokohama has enjoyed the patronage of many visitors and has hosted a cumulative total of approximately 27,000 events and welcomed approximately 87 million visitors.
In accordance with its philosophy since its opening, we have endeavored to contribute to the development of academia, culture, and the economy as a facility that supports “platforms” for innovative knowledge sharing. Furthermore, the opening of the new PACIFICO Yokohama North in 2020 has added a new dimension to the city's appeal.
Meanwhile, the environment surrounding MICE events has undergone significant changes in the wake of last year's prolonged COVID-19 infection. In the midst of these circumstances, our company is cultivating our expertise in holding events in a hybrid format of online and in-person, enhancing our network environment, and promoting DX by converting venue use application procedures to an online format. By becoming the first MICE facility in Japan to acquire GBAC STARTM certification, an international hygiene standard, we are able to provide an even safer, more secure, and more comfortable atmosphere for our customers. Our medium- and long-term renovation work for existing facilities is also being carried out from an SDGs perspective, including the adoption of energy conservation and barrier-free measures.
While taking into consideration sustainable facility management that gives consideration to the environment, society, and the economy, the entire company is working together to address these issues and provide more wonderful moments and experiences than ever before in order to "realize a future full of hope where innovation is born. I hope that we can further make contributions to the development of the local economy and industries.
In closing, I would like to offer my sincere wishes for the development of the MICE industry and the health and prosperity of all stakeholders and ask for your continued guidance and support.
